Welcome!
Welcome to the Delaware County Historical Society's Web site. I invite you to explore the resources available to history buffs, students of all ages, genealogists, researchers, and those who are simply curious about Delaware County.

Founded in 1895, Delaware County Historical Society is the oldest historical society in Delaware County. Its mission is to acquire, preserve and make available documentation of Delaware County history; to provide and support educational programs on the history of Delaware County; and to publish materials relevant to this history.

DCHS currently owns two properties: Greenbank Farm in Media and the old Delaware County National Bank building in Chester. Greenbank Farm is a historic site as well as home to the DCHS administrative and Passport to History offices. The old bank building is the new home for the DCHS research library .

Most collections are available to the public, members and visitors alike, by visiting the library. Research services are available to those unable to visit in person. Collections include artifacts, art, books too numerous to list, photographs and postcards, newspapers, city directories, county histories, business histories, and much more.

Thanks for dropping by,
John E. Costello, M.A.
Executive Director
